SELECTION OF THE BILIARY DECOMPRESSION METHOD ACCORDING TO THE TYPE OF TUMOR OBSTRUCTION BASED ON THE BISMUTH-CORLETTE CLASSIFICATION
Abstract
Tumors of the proximal bile ducts are accompanied by the development of obstructive jaundice and pronounced cholestasis, which significantly worsens the patients' condition and limits the possibilities for radical intervention. The choice of the optimal method of biliary decompression is of fundamental importance for correcting cholestasis, preventing infectious complications, preparing patients for radical surgical treatment, or providing palliative therapy. The effectiveness of drainage is determined not only by the technical feasibility of the intervention, but also by the level of tumor obstruction and the extent of involvement of the confluence and intrahepatic bile ducts.
