STUDY OF THE FUNCTIONAL STATE AND PARENCHYMAL DISEASES OF THE THYROID GLAND IN WOMEN WITH METABOLIC SYNDROME
Abstract
In modern medicine, the growing prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) has become one of the global health problems. The main components of MS โ insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and visceral obesity โ cause systemic inflammation and hormonal homeostasis disorders in the body. The mitogenic effect of hyperinsulinemia on thyrocytes via insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) accelerates proliferative processes (nodular and diffuse goiter) in the thyroid gland (TG) parenchyma.ย
