Abstract

In modern medicine, the growing prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) has become one of the global health problems. The main components of MS โ€“ insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and visceral obesity โ€“ cause systemic inflammation and hormonal homeostasis disorders in the body. The mitogenic effect of hyperinsulinemia on thyrocytes via insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) accelerates proliferative processes (nodular and diffuse goiter) in the thyroid gland (TG) parenchyma.ย
