Abstract

This article examines the stages of the formation and development of English theatre from the Middle Ages to the twenty-first century. It provides a scholarly analysis of medieval religious theatre, Renaissance dramaturgy, the rise of Elizabethan theatre, the Restoration period, theatrical reforms of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, as well as modern theatrical movements of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The study also explores the contribution of English theatre to the development of world theatre art and analyzes its role in contemporary cultural processes.
