Abstract

This scientific article explores the depiction of the mother figure in English and Uzbek folk tales through an axiological (value-based) analysis. The study investigates cross-cultural differences, national value systems, moral norms, and educational ideas that shape the mother image in both traditions. In English folk tales, mother figures often represent social norms, independence, and individuality, while in Uzbek folk tales, they embody love, devotion, spirituality, and family-oriented values. The article applies comparative and descriptive methods to analyze the axiological significance of the mother image in both cultures. Examples from “Cinderella” and “Snow White” illustrate Western notions of morality and selfhood, while “Zumrad and Qimmat” and “The rich man and the poor man” highlight Eastern ideals of loyalty, compassion, and moral upbringing.
