Abstract

In recent years, the integration of Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) has transformed international trade logistics. Landlocked developing economies face significant challenges related to high transit-tracking costs, data centralization, and customs inefficiencies. The main objective of this study is to examine how the integration of blockchain infrastructure and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies can enhance data autonomy and operational efficiency in Central Asian supply chains. Using Transaction Cost Economics (TCE) as the theoretical framework, the paper analyzes the potential role of DePIN in improving cross-border freight monitoring and logistics coordination. The analysis suggests that DePIN can strengthen supply chain transparency, reduce transaction costs, and support more efficient customs and trade procedures through decentralized data management and smart-contract applications. The study concludes that policymakers should promote regulatory sandbox mechanisms and supportive governance frameworks to facilitate the integration of DePIN into national single-window trade systems.
