THE FUNCTIONS OF PROCEDURAL TIME LIMITS AND THEIR ROLE IN THE CIVIL JUSTICE SYSTEM

This article examines the doctrinal foundations and functional significance of procedural time limits in civil justice systems. The study analyzes the evolution of theoretical approaches to procedural deadlines and identifies their core functions within modern civil procedure. Based on doctrinal and comparative analysis, the article demonstrates that procedural time limits constitute a complex legal institution ensuring judicial efficiency, legal certainty, procedural discipline, and the effective protection of parties’ rights. Particular attention is paid to their role as regulatory, guaranteeing, stabilizing, dynamic, and system-forming mechanisms within civil proceedings. The research concludes that procedural time limits represent a structural element of fair trial standards and remain central to the modernization of civil procedural law.
