Abstract

Predicting dental risk in the elderly based on clinical signs is limited by sensitivity – in a published model, the AUC was 0.81 with a sensitivity of only 61 % [2]. Oral fluid biomarkers are being considered as a way to reduce the proportion of false negative conclusions.
