Abstract

During the 20th century, travel literature (travel writing) underwent a significant shift in its academic and literary status, driven by intense geopolitical, cultural, and anthropological disruptions. Global conflicts, the deconstruction of colonial frameworks, imperial collapses, intense migration flows, the rise of commercial tourism, and modern mass media fundamentally reshaped both the physical experience of traveling and its textual representation.
