this article explores the figure of the Byronic hero and the pervasive theme of solitude in Romantic poetry. It examines how the Byronic hero, characterized by alienation, emotional complexity, and defiance, embodies the Romantic preoccupation with individualism and inner turmoil. The theme of solitude is analyzed both as a consequence of the hero’s rebellious nature and as a poetic motif reflecting broader existential and societal concerns. Drawing on key works by Lord Byron and his contemporaries, the article highlights how solitude shapes the Romantic hero’s identity and emotional depth, revealing the tension between personal freedom and isolation in the Romantic imagination.
