In the history of classical Eastern literature, religious and moral ideas, especially those expressed through the images of prophets, occupy a special place. Sufi poets such as Ahmad Yassawi, Alisher Navoi, Sulaymon Baqirgoni, Mashrab, and Attar portrayed the spiritual relationship between man and God in their works.
Fariduddin Attar (1145–1221) is one of the most influential poets who expressed the philosophy of Sufism in an artistic form. His works — Mantiq ut-Tayr, Asrarnama, and Ilahi-nama — reveal the path of human perfection through symbolic stories. In Ilahi-nama, the lives of the prophets, their trials, repentance, and loyalty express the spiritual connection between God and man.
