Abstract

This article explores the anatomical features of the skull bones that enclose and protect the brain, highlighting their structural complexity and functional significance. The human skull, composed of multiple cranial bones, serves as a rigid protective case that safeguards the brain against mechanical injuries while providing attachment sites for muscles and sensory organs. The study examines the morphology, interconnections, and developmental aspects of key cranial bones, including the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital bones. Emphasis is placed on the protective mechanisms, such as cranial sutures and bone thickness variations, which contribute to the overall resilience of the skull. By understanding these anatomical characteristics, medical students, educators, and researchers can better appreciate the critical role of the skull in neuroskeletal health and its implications for clinical practices, including neurosurgery and trauma management.
