Abstract

Cardiorenal syndrome is one of the most clinically significant conditions characterized by the close interaction between cardiovascular and renal dysfunction. Its progression is determined by a combination of hemodynamic, neurohumoral, inflammatory, and metabolic mechanisms, including activation of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system, sympathetic nervous system hyperactivity, endothelial dysfunction, venous congestion, and tubulointerstitial injury. Due to the heterogeneity of clinical manifestations, personalized cardionephroprotection based on individual patient phenotyping is of particular clinical importance.
