Abstract

Polymer-based biocomposites occupy an important place in modern biomedical materials science because they combine the technological advantages of polymer matrices with the biological activity of mineral and natural fillers. Such systems are widely considered for temporary and permanent implants, tissue engineering scaffolds, and regenerative constructs intended for bone and soft tissue repair. At the same time, the functional potential of a biocomposite cannot be reduced to the separate characteristics of its components. Mechanical strength, degradation behavior, surface response, and cell interaction arise from the combined influence of composition, interfacial bonding, and structural organization.
