Abstract

Cognitive linguistics has had a significant impact on contemporary translation studies by emphasizing the role of mental processes in language comprehension and production. Translation is increasingly understood as a complex cognitive activity rather than a mechanical transfer between languages. This article examines the relationship between cognitive linguistics and translation, with a particular focus on the cognitive mechanisms involved in the translator’s thinking process. Relying on established theoretical frameworks in cognitive linguistics, the study discusses how conceptualization, frames, and mental models influence translation decisions. The findings highlight the importance of cognitive awareness in both translation practice and translator training.
