PROSPECTS FOR ENHANCING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PARTICIPATION OF THE OLIY MAJLIS OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN IN FOREIGN AFFAIRS

This article analyzes the prospects for enhancing the effectiveness of the participation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in foreign affairs. It examines the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy in the modern international arena, the participation of the Oliy Majlis in international organizations and bilateral and multilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, and the need to strengthen the knowledge and skills of deputies and parliamentary staff in international relations, diplomacy, and international law. Drawing on the experiences of the U.S. and U.K. parliaments, the article provides recommendations to improve the Parliament’s involvement in foreign policy, including the establishment of specialized analytical centers, organization of parliamentary hearings on international treaties, inclusion of parliamentary committees in the early stages of treaty preparation, and development of professional training programs for deputies and staff.
