This paper explores the concept of economic capacity as the latent ability of nations and regions to achieve sustainable prosperity. It examines six foundational pillars—natural wealth, demographic structure, human capital, technological infrastructure, institutional quality, and innovation ecosystems—that collectively shape economic potential. The study also analyzes eight key challenges that hinder the realization of this potential, including conceptual ambiguity, data limitations, resource inefficiency, internal disparities, environmental pressures, external dependencies, and cultural constraints. By emphasizing strategic investment in people, systems, and innovation, the paper argues that societies can transform dormant capacity into tangible progress and resilience.
