Abstract

This article provides a comparative-contrastive analysis of linguocultural lacunae in English and Uzbek business and entrepreneurship terminology. Using terms such as startup, entrepreneurship, business ethics, stakeholder, and profit-oriented as examples, it is demonstrated that a mismatch in conceptual and cultural content can exist even when a direct lexical translation is available. The types of lacunae are identified, and their five primary functions in the translation process are substantiated.
