Abstract

Obesity is currently recognized as a systemic metabolic disorder accompanied by persistent low-grade inflammation and profound metabolic imbalance. In recent decades, increasing attention has been directed toward the influence of obesity on hepatobiliary pathology, particularly chronic calculous cholecystitis. Disturbances in cholesterol metabolism, excessive lipid accumulation, and impaired bile dynamics create favorable conditions for gallstone formation and chronic inflammatory damage of the gallbladder.
