Abstract

This article examines the didactic foundations of environmental education in Karakalpak folk pedagogy, emphasizing its holistic, value-centered, and experience-based nature. Drawing on traditional oral literature, ecological norms, symbolic teachings, and community practices, the study demonstrates how ecological consciousness was historically cultivated through intergenerational learning. Moreover, it highlights key didactic principles such as continuity, unity of theory and practice, and collective responsibility, which together shaped sustainable behavior among the Karakalpak people. The findings reveal that the integration of cultural heritage with modern pedagogical approaches can significantly enhance contemporary environmental education and contribute to sustainable development
