Abstract

In reconstructive urology, a large number of surgical treatments for urethral strictures in men have been proposed. Most publications focus on the advantages of each surgical technique, and unfortunately, little attention is paid to intra- and postoperative complications, which undoubtedly impact quality of life and satisfaction with treatment. This paper presents a review of the international literature on potential complications associated with various treatment methods for urethral stricture disease. Complications after urethroplasty (urethral plastic surgery) include early infections, perineal hematomas, urinary retention, as well as delayed stricture recurrence, ejaculatory dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, and fistulas. The complication rate depends on the complexity of the procedure, reaching 25-26%. Recovery takes approximately 2-4 weeks..
