Résumé

In the age of globalization, the spread of dominant world languages has accelerated while thousands of minority and indigenous languages face extinction. Language loss represents more than the disappearance of words; it reflects the erosion of culture, identity, and historical memory. This paper analyzes the phenomenon of language endangerment within the framework of globalization, examining its social, economic, and political causes. It also discusses the significance of linguistic diversity for cultural sustainability and cognitive development, and explores successful strategies and case studies of language revitalization around the world. The study concludes that preserving linguistic diversity is an essential element of global cultural heritage and an ethical obligation of the international community
