Résumé

This article examines the aesthetic foundations that shaped Kate Chopin’s artistic method in the context of late nineteenth-century American literature. The study focuses on key aesthetic principles such as psychological realism, aesthetic individualism, artistic objectivity, and the representation of female subjectivity in Chopin’s works. Particular attention is given to the analysis of her novel The Awakening and selected short stories, which reveal the author’s innovative approach to portraying human consciousness, personal freedom, and women’s identity. The research demonstrates that Chopin’s narrative style reflects the broader aesthetic transformations of American literary realism while simultaneously anticipating themes that later became central to feminist literary criticism. The findings highlight the significance of aesthetic principles in shaping Chopin’s artistic vision and her contribution to the development of modern American literature.
