Résumé

This section examines desiderative personal names (“wish-names”) in the Karakalpak anthroponymic system. The analysis focuses on their semantic motivation, structural patterns, and cultural functions. Desiderative names express parents’ aspirations, blessings, or hopes for a child’s future, often reflecting sociocultural values, religious beliefs, and traditional naming practices. The study highlights productive morphological models and discusses the role of such names in shaping the symbolic and communicative functions of the personal naming system.
