Résumé

The topic “Poultry Terminology in the English Language” explores the lexical, morphological, and semantic features of words and expressions related to domesticated birds such as chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys. The study focuses on the historical origins, structural patterns, and classification of poultry terms within the English lexicon. It analyzes how poultry-related vocabulary has developed through processes of derivation, compounding, and borrowing, reflecting the influence of agricultural, culinary, and cultural traditions in English-speaking societies. The research also highlights the role of metaphor and idiomatic usage in extending the meanings of poultry terms beyond their literal sense. Understanding the system of poultry terminology contributes to the broader study of English zoological and agricultural lexicon formation.
