Résumé

Language and culture are inseparable concepts, and it is crucial to consider the cultural context when learning a language. This paper examines the significance of explicitly teaching culture through literature to EFL (English as Foreign Language) learners. Literature serves as a bridge between language and culture as it reflects lifestyle, communication and allows cultural comparison, which is helpful to enhance students’ linguistic competence, cultural awareness and communicative ability. By learning English through literature, learners can enrich both linguistic competence and their understanding of diverse culture. The findings show that blending literature into EFL classrooms improves the learning process, turning it to be more effective, context-based and interactive. Overall, literature to teach culture enhance not only language proficiency but also intercultural competence among EFL learners.
