STEREOTYPES IN TERMINOLOGY: POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE FEATURES

The article investigates kinship terms from the perspective of linguistic axiology. The kinship system is closely connected with cultural values, collective memory, and social structures, serving not only to denote biological relations but also to encode moral and aesthetic ideals. The study analyzes the positive and negative stereotypes associated with kinship terms, their connotative layers, and their referential and performative functions. Particular attention is given to the diachronic conservatism of kinship terminology, its role in preserving and transmitting cultural traditions, and its reflection of both universal and culture-specific values. Kinship terms are interpreted as linguocultural phenomena situated within the “Human–Language–World” triad, through which social hierarchy, national identity, and intergenerational continuity are expressed. The findings demonstrate that axiological analysis of kinship terms provides a fundamental methodological framework for uncovering the dialectical relationship between language and reality.
