INTEGRATING PODCASTS INTO ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING: A MODERN APPROACH TO ORAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The development of oral communication skills remains one of the most important objectives of English language teaching. However, many learners experience difficulties in speaking due to limited exposure to authentic language input and insufficient opportunities for meaningful interaction. Recent technological advances have introduced podcasts as an effective educational resource capable of supporting language learning both inside and outside the classroom. This study investigates the effectiveness of podcast integration in English language teaching for developing students’ oral skills. Using a quasi-experimental design, the research was conducted among high school students studying English as a foreign language. Data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, classroom observations, and student questionnaires. The findings indicate that podcast-based instruction positively influences learners’ pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary usage, and confidence in speaking. The study concludes that podcasts provide authentic linguistic input and create favorable conditions for oral skill development. Therefore, podcast integration can be considered an effective modern approach in English language teaching.
