This article analyzes the essence, necessity, main directions and pedagogical conditions of forming media culture competence of high school students in the current era of rapid development of digital technologies. Effective methods of developing critical thinking skills, correct assessment of information and its conscious use in the conditions of the growing influence of the media space are highlighted.
