Abstract

Childhood and adolescent obesity has emerged as a growing global health concern, prompting increased attention to nutritional factors that shape metabolic outcomes. Among these factors, the glycemic index (GI) of foods represents an important parameter in the development of evidence-based dietary approaches for young individuals affected by excessive body weight (1-3). This work examines how the GI of commonly consumed foods influences metabolic regulation in obese children and adolescents and highlights the potential benefits of integrating low-GI dietary components into routine nutrition.
