Abstract

This article examines the formation and development stages of the talk-show genre on the Qaraqalpaqstan television channel within the broader context of regional mass media transformation. The study adopts a diachronic and functional approach to trace how talk-shows evolved from monologic informational broadcasts to dialogic, interactive, and digitally influenced formats. Particular attention is paid to the sociocultural, linguistic, and communicative factors that shaped each stage of development. The analysis demonstrates that the talk-show genre has gradually become a multifunctional media platform combining information, interpretation, public discussion, and cultural mediation. Moreover, the article argues that the evolution of talk-shows on the Qaraqalpaqstan channel reflects not only technological change but also shifts in public discourse norms, audience participation, and regional communicative culture. Consequently, the talk-show genre emerges as a key indicator of media modernization and an important space for negotiating social meanings and collective values in Karakalpak society.
