PHILIP ROTH AND NATHAN ZUCKERMAN PARALLELS IN THE NOVEL “THE GHOST WRITER”

Philip Roth’s contribution in the development of American multicultural literature is enormous. Especially his novel “The Ghost writer” not only signals the start of the Zuckerman Bound series but also characterizes one of the most intricate author-protagonist relationships in contemporary fiction. This paper explores the issue of authorship and fictional representation in Philip Roth’s novel “The Ghost Writer” (1979). It shows that Nathan Zuckerman acts as Roth’s double in order to investigate the negotiation of the writers between their autobiographies and the works of fiction they create.
