Аннотация

The Brontë sisters—Charlotte, Emily, and Anne—occupy a central place in the history of English literature. Writing in the early to mid-nineteenth century, they produced a body of work that challenged social norms, expanded the psychological depth of the novel, and reshaped representations of gender, morality, and individuality. Despite their short lives and limited publication periods, the Brontë sisters made lasting contributions through innovative narrative techniques, complex characterization, and a bold engagement with themes such as passion, independence, social injustice, and moral responsibility. This article examines the historical and cultural context of their writing, provides an overview of their major works, and analyzes their collective and individual contributions to the development of the English novel and poetry. The study argues that the Brontë sisters not only transformed Victorian literature but also laid foundations for modern literary realism and psychological fiction
