Résumé

This chapter critically examines the intricate relationship between competitiveness and quality within the tourism sector, constructing an integrated analytical framework from existing destination competitiveness models and empirical quality studies. It highlights how diverse quality dimensions, from service delivery to “quality of place”, act as crucial mediating factors influencing destination appeal, visitor satisfaction, and sustainable competitiveness. The analysis addresses limitations of simplistic frameworks, proposing a more nuanced understanding of quality’s role.
