Abstract

Metal- organic frameworks (MOFs) constitute a promising class of crystalline porous materials formed through the coordination of metal ions or metal clusters with organic bridging ligands. These materials have emerged at the intersection of coordination chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and materials science. Their principal advantages include molecular-level control over porous structures, high specific surface areas, tunable pore sizes, and the possibility of selectively incorporating functional groups. The concept of reticular chemistry enables the construction of novel materials with controlled structural and functional properties by assembling metal- organic building units and organic ligands according to predetermined topologies.
