In this work, the mechanism of the human eye as an optical system is analyzed from a physical point of view. The functions of the main optical elements of the eye - the cornea, the lens and the retina - are explained based on the laws of refraction, focusing and image formation. The physical causes of visual defects (myopia and hyperopia) and methods of their correction are also considered
